According to the decision of the Senate of Riga Technical University (RTU), we are delighted to announce that a new structural unit – International Education Research Center (IERC) – has been established. The new center was established by merging the forces of the International Cooperation and Foreign Students Department (ICFSD) and the Faculty of E-Learning Technologies and Humanities (FETH).

On occasion of well-established cooperation between Riga Technical University and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in Germany, our students are invited to attend an online lecture series “The Social Effects of the Corona Crisis” devoted to a number of topics addressing social effects caused by COVID-19.

Latvian scientists develop a method to determine the distribution of coronavirus in the environment

Latvian scientists are developing a new monitoring method that will help to determine the transfer of coronavirus to wastewater and the distribution in the environment. This is necessary in order to understand what virus-restrictive measures can be implemented and what preventive measures should be taken, taking into account not only the human-to-human virus transmission, but on a more broader scale – across the whole ecosystem. The study is carried out by Riga Technical University (RTU) together with the Latvian Biomedical Research and Studies Center (BMC) and the Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment (BIOR). 48 hr automated lung fan prototype has been created helping in the struggle with COVID-19

A team of scientists and engineers from the Design Factory of Riga Technical University (RTU) has created a prototype for an automated lung fan that is simple enough in production and easy to use, in order to help patients with breathing problems caused by Covid-19 efficiently. Cooperation with a number of companies to start production is already under way. Read more
